Lea Sports PSG Res 1
LILLEY RANGERS FC 1

Adam Constable (1)

With St John's drawing in the week and our hosts still having 4 games in hand on us we took the opportunity to enjoy what could be our last game in Division 3 by pulling positions out of Skip's hat! With Dinger donning the gloves, Nick and Robbie at the heart of the defence, and Sven leading the line our first half line up was different to say the least but it was during the first 45 minutes where we played our best football. We took a 1-0 lead into half-time when Adam avoided Lea Sports' offside trap and slotted home after being released by Macca's through ball. Apart from a couple of clearances Dinger had only to make one save before coming in at half-time to take his turn at leading the line with Kev.

Our 2nd half line up looked more 'regulation' with Foxy between the sticks, Gero at centre half alongside Gareth, and Nick and Adam on the flanks. Our passing began to deteriorate and the game became stretched, allowing our hosts to get more and more into the game, but had not forced Foxy into a save of any kind. Unfortunately Lea Sports equalised with 15 minutes remaining when a throw in was only cleared to the edge of the box and the winger's strike took a big deflection that wrong footed Foxy.

I guess a draw was a fair result, as apart from one or two near misses we did not test their keeper enough, and unfortunately that has been the story of our season. At times we play really good football, mix it with the better sides in the league, but we either do not create enough chances or do not put the majority of them away.

Skip won this week's MOTM after a battling and non-stop display in the middle of midfield and special thanks go to Den, Gero, and Kev who sat out the 1st half and Jason, Robbie and Sven who sat out the 2nd half, which allowed Macca to complete the season playing every minute of every game. He is very grateful to his (team) mates.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
